Outdoor Trends for 2019
Hi all – it’s Nicole. I am taking over the blog since I love design, color, and trends! It’s been a whirlwind past 2 weeks as we have attended the North-East Pool and Spa Show, the Nicolock conference and had a full day at the MSI warehouse in Baltimore. What does that mean for you? Tons of new products and all new colors in your favorite products. I wanted to share my picks for the top trends we are seeing for 2019 and where they would work in your outdoor living space.
Trend # 1 – Lighter colors
Think of our beautiful sandy beaches here in Delaware. Silver Travertine was the number 1 seller last year through all of our suppliers. This year we are trending back on the beige in both pavers and on some brand-new stone veneers we just got updated.
Trend # 2 – Texture
Tiles with textures, stone veneer with textures. You are going to want to touch these to believe it. This is the hottest trend in tiles right now and we are in love and starting to stock it just for you.
Trend # 3- Copper Scuppers
I love the look of copper and I love it even more as it starts to patina! This material never goes out of style and now it is available for water feature walls in a variety of shapes, sizes and water volume so you can get the right ambient noise.
Trend # 4 – Inlays
Give your custom patio some oomph. Adding a contrasting inlay on your patio adds more visual interest, is great for curb appeal, and really helps set you apart from your neighbors. Cookie Cutters beware – this is high style that can’t be easily duplicated.
Trend # 5 – Mosaic Pool Tiles
When Joe and I were recently on our honeymoon, every resort we stayed in had tile pools with the most beautiful mosaic tiles. I was so in love (with the tiles in this case!) that I chatted each day with Bri while she searched high and low to find the colors and styles I was looking for. We are already selling them on pools going in right now!
Trend # 6 – The Cocktail Pool
Could anything sound like more fun than a cocktail pool – nope – I didn’t think so either! Smaller pools, deep enough to cool off but still have your drink in your hand. Large enough for your favorite raft and small enough to fit in almost any yard.
Trend # 7 – Tanning Ledges
Aka the baja shelf. We started seeing these 2 years ago and now everyone coming into the design studio is mentioning them. Why wouldn’t you? Relax with your book and cool off at the same time. Pair them with the ledge loungers and ledge lounger furniture and you might never need to get up!
Trend # 8 – Modern, Clean Lines
Larger paving products are hot – but not on your feet! We are now stocking “Arterra Premium Porcelain Pavers” All of these pavers come in 24″ x 24″ – which looks fantastic with turf or pebbles in between. Some come in a sleek 12″ x 48” size or the versatile 12” x 24”.
Stop in the design studio today to see these new trends in person and discuss your next outdoor living project. Let’s do this!
