“When we saw Joe Ashton’s design for our pool and backyard we were floored! Nicole was GREAT with handling our design and material options and Brianne is always professional and responsive. Brian is our guy in the field, he is always ready to assist with any service and maintenance issues.” – Rob S.

What do you do in your down time?
I try to take advantage of the beach life as much as I can. I like to swim in the ocean in the morning, and I love relaxing at the beach on Sundays with our friends and family. In the winter, I watch hockey and cheer on the Flyers. Additionally, my wife and I love art. We enjoy wandering into galleries, finding a great piece on a wall at a local restaurant, or admiring the collection at the Rehoboth Art League. I am also starting to travel more and to experience different cultures.
What has been one of your favorite jobs?
I’ve had the honor of working on so many residential and commercial projects over the years. We did the hardscaping and landscaping for the Rehoboth Beach Museum. Additionally, we designed and constructed a war memorial in Willow Grove, PA full of fountains and natural stone. It was a wonderfully peaceful space once it was complete. Moreover, the team did a beautiful job on Pilottown Road in Lewes, a project which we undertook for friends of ours. It was rewarding to see this project come together both professionally and personally, and we continue to enjoy the space with our friends when they hold charity functions and host their loved ones.

What do you love most about your job?
I love the process of meeting awesome people, watching Joe come up with creative, one-of-a-kind designs, and witnessing our team construct those designs. It is just fantastic to see our clients’ smiling faces as they enjoy their life outdoors by jumping into their new pool or firing up their new grill!
What do you love most about living at the beach?
I love being able to see the ocean every day, and I spend as much time on the beach as I can. I love it here year round, but I really love it when the weather starts to get warm again and people start heading to their beach houses. The energy in and around town really goes up!
What is your favorite part of the Ashton Group at the Beach process?
I love to help clients pick out their materials. I think this is where our clients can really set their home apart from others and showcase their own style. It’s so much fun to find the perfect combination of natural stone, pavers, coping, pool tiles, and finishes! It’s equally fun when I get to work with the same clients again to design their landscaping plans. Here, I get to help them pick out the perfect trees and plants to provide as much interest or privacy as they desire.

What do you love most about your job?
I love seeing our clients’ dreams come to life. We begin the process with just a spark of inspiration in a meeting, and then turn that spark into something tangible!
What do you love most about living at the beach?
I love the relaxed and laid-back atmosphere at the beach. I love driving onto the beach with my Jeep and spending all day fishing with family and friends.
What is your favorite part of the Ashton Group at the Beach process?
Being able to interact with our clients, vendors, and fans on social media adds an extra, personal touch. These interactions hopefully paint the perfect picture of our clients relaxing in the new outdoor space which we created just for them.

Jose Hernandez

What do you love most about your job?
What I love most about my job is starting something from scratch and then building it into our clients’ dream project.
What’s your favorite plant or tree, and why?
The tree I like most is the red maple, because in the fall it turns into a “firetree”.
What is your favorite part of the Ashton Group at the Beach process?
I like when we get to start laying the flatwork/hardscape materials. For me, this is when the project really comes to life for the clients. They get to see the materials they picked out with Nicole and Joe, and they can also really begin to picture how everything is going to look.
What do you like to do most when you aren’t working?
I love to play football/soccer and to spend time with my wife and kids.

What is your background?

I have been working around pools most of my life but in 2006, took the plunge (pun intended!) and started a pool & construction company. I’ve been a fiberglass pool dealer and an authorized servicer for Hayward Pool Products.

What do you love most about your job?

I believe that close attention to detail has sustained the trust of homeowners and trade professionals alike. I have a steadfast approach and will make sure that your pool is my focus until it is flawless and ready to enjoy.

What do you do in your down time?

In my downtime you’ll find me by both land and sea, embracing what our coastal communities have to offer. My favorite is the shoulder season. It reminds me how fortunate I am to be able to live and work in this area.

Brian Balbo

What is your background?

I have over 29 years in all aspects of the industry including maintenance, service, pool inspections, covers and more!

What has been your favorite job?

My favorite pool ever was the first pool I built. It gave me a great sense of accomplishment.

What do you love most about living at the beach?

I’m excited to be moving to the beach and will be living in the Lewes, Delaware area. What I love most is the relaxation and calming effect early in the AM, specifically the activities, beach games and people watching during the day and always on the board walk. There is always something to do and you never get bored by the view.

What do you do in your down time?

When not at work, I like to spend time with my daughter, find “one of a kind restaurants”, and hit the movies.

Captain has been in charge since he picked Joe as his human when Joe and Nicole went into the Rehoboth Beach location of the Delaware Humane Association. Captain is a lab mix. He loves to chew on bones and is the quiet, stern dog. He is stubborn and smart – a tough combination! He loves to meet new people and can’t wait for you to come by the studio or to monitor your project at your house.

Finnegan was the runt of the litter and is still trying to tackle Captain. Finnegan is a lab mix and is also from the Delaware Humane Association. While Captain chose Joe, Nicole just could not leave Finnegan behind. He was hiding under the kennels and under the blankets. Finnegan likes more interactive play and a great game of tug of war or a food puzzle. He will be learning to be Nicole’s running partner/marathon training partner as he grows into those little legs. Watch out for that happy wagging tail when you come into the office to meet him.
